Cardboard Baler Selection Guide

The starting point for selecting a proper Cardboard Baler Size is determined by the cardboard volume generated.  The industry standard is measurement in tons (2000 lbs).  To maximize the price or revenue from the sale value of recycled cardboard, a preferred bale size of 60"x30"x42" weighing 800-1100 lbs or larger is recommended.  This is typically known as a Mill Size Bale. Smaller machines are available for low volumes or tight space restrictions. 

Cardboard Baler Recommendations By Tonnage

 * 0-2 TONS PER DAY   VERTICAL CARDBOARD BALER  , Manually fed machine, different machines can produce bales 24, 36, 48, 60, or 72 inch wide with cardboard bales weighing 100-1500 lbs., Electrically operated with 3 to 20 Horsepower motors.  Rarely recommended for sale to operations making over 4 bales per day.

 * 1-4 TONS PER DAY  CLOSED-END HORIZONTAL CARDBOARD BALER - , Manually fed or conveyor fed through large open top. Most machines cycle with photo controlled eyes allowing for automated feed options.  Commonly producing cardboard bales in 30" or 42" wide and 60 to 72" in length weighing 1000 to 2000 lbs.  Commonly found in 20 to 40 Horse power range.   

 * 3-200 TONS PER DAY  AUTO-TIE CARDBOARD BALER - , May be hand fed or conveyor fed.  Balers have Automatic Bale Tieing units that can tie off each bale in the 20 to 50 second range.  Recommended for sale to applications requiring reduced labor involvement and high production capabilities.  Electrically powered machines in the 20 to 150 Horsepower available.  Machines found in all major cardboard recycling operations.
